Ivy has enjoyed her fair share of junk food (we all have) but she seems to wear it so well!

As soon as we turn into our neighborhood we hear a little "click" from the backseat as Ivy removes her seat belt. She works her way to the front and drives us on home.

Finger-sucking has been Ivy's comfort since she was about 4 months old. She sucks them with such ferocity that her fingernail cracked and came off, and the doctor asked us if she had been burned.

So, after trying a few different things to help her break the habit we decided that her first trip to the dentist should happen sooner rather than later. I couldn't believe how well Ivy did. Enamoured with the foot pedals, the water squirt and suction tubes, and the "big flashlight", she had no trouble letting the hygienist check, brush, and floss her teeth and the dentist came in and she was just as good for him! He had some news for us, though. Ivy's finger sucking, while it may have kept pesky ear infections at bay, has caused some separation in her mandibular joints. After consulting an oral surgeon, we have to watch for any further changes and pay attention to any discomfort. We've been using her glove again for the past month and she's doing really well. Hopefully we'll be able to take it off in the next couple of months.
Here she is loving some sun!
She is always happy when she's standing. She scoots around in her walker like she'll be ready to take off on her own tomorrow. It's quite remarkable how well she moves her feet.

She's began to sit up fairly well, and she laughs out loud now. After some worries from her momma, she seems to have found that beautiful baby in the mirror, and at least one front bottom tooth has made a point against her gums, so before long we'll say farewell to the toothless baby smile. *Sigh* These are the moments that make parenthood amazing beautiful and bittersweet.

And little Miss Isabella? After some serious consideration on a name change, because she just doesn't seem like an Isabella, she is beginning to grow into the name Isa (pronounced E-sa not is-a). Thank heavens! I was beginning to think we'd have to call her Emma and just spell it i-s-a-b-e-l-l-a! :)

Near the beginning of the month, our good sleeper began waking up in the middle of the night. Along with her interest in our food, we decided it was time to introduce squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, prunes, pears, and peaches...in that order. She prefers her food thicker, so she's already bumped to stage 2, and she LOVES real sweet potatoes more than just about anything else!
