In a complete opposite post from the one a week ago, the snow melted and the sun came out! Today, in the 80 degree temperature, we spent the afternoon outside swinging...
If you want to see joy, watch a little girl reunited with her sandbox after a long, cold winter!
And, who needs Papa's car when the little ramp is clearly the most fun?
On the news front, this changing weather helped Ivy garner her first ear infection. She'd been fighting a very mild case of the sniffles for a week or so, and on Thursday she told her teacher at school that she'd put corn in her ear. I did send corn for her lunch that day, so it was worth a trip to the doctor to check it out. The verdict was no corn... infection. The doctor was in awe that she wasn't screaming her head off... we have a brave little trooper on our hands!
We enjoyed our surprise day in the snow yesterday! Ivy went out and stopped short when she heard the crunch under her foot... then she ventured out a little further!
As she's got her papa's wild streak, it never occured to her to be afraid of the snow... the sloped backyard ended in deep puddles of water so across the front yard she went sailing!
Then Ivy and her papa built a snowman... well, they attempted it. They soon gave up and started making snowballs!
Ivy and I got down in the now and made snow angles! They turned out great!
It feels like all I've done lately is get farther and farther behind. I've been busy at work and busy at home, and I'm wondering how I'll manage when graduate classes start next week. I'm very fortunate to have so much to keep me busy, and to have the capability to juggle so many tasks so please don't think my explaining is complaining! While our blog may turn into a monthly update for the next 24 months... for now I'll try to catch us up.
Valentines...
Papa made our Valentine's Day special with his thoughtfulness. I was touched that he brought flowers for Ivy and told her, "These are to bring some beauty to your room because you are a beauty girl!" So sweet!
We tried to make Valentine's special for him as well. (Ivy's glasses are just for play...)
Aunt Shirley and Uncle Jack got her some 'chocoli' which she thought was awesome! (And yes, she's wearing my NKOTB shirt. She LOVES it!)
Other Stuff... Last Thursday and Friday we heard from school that Ivy had had two fantastic days! They said she was mannerly and listened so well! Papa told Ivy that since she had been so good, we would go to Chuck E. Cheese to play. We all had a great time!
On Thursday this week, Ivy said to me, "Mommy go get my bike from the garage. Bring it in the house. I ride it by my big girl like Cody does at school." I said, "Cody has a bike at your school?" "Uh-huh." "And you ride it like a big girl?" "Yes. Cody has a big bike like me does." Well, it's been a couple of months since Christmas when her feet almost touched the pedals, so I went to get the bike and what do you know!
She can ride it 'by her big girl'. She's been doing that for three days now and she's gotten really good at steering around the furniture. Now, if we had two who were trying to ride bikes in the house...
You may think I'm silly for including this last picture, but if you knew how much I dislike peeling hard-boiled eggs, you'd understand how happy I was to discover that Ivy can "crunch" them like nobody's business!
