Sick

Well, blue week was shaping up nicely (although the outfits were not really photo worthy) until Saturday evening. Ivy got sick. Stomach virus sick. It was really not a fun time, but she was such a trooper. I've lost count of how many times she's thrown up or how many times I've changed her pajamas or the sheets on her bed. I can tell you that I've been forced to change my own clothes 3 times. That said, there are things here for which I am very thankful. They are:

1) I was already doing laundry, so when things needed to be washed quickly, there was always a load headed to the washer anyway.

2) We have plenty of crib sheets, and I have a husband who can put them on while I take care of the baby.

3) We are absolutely blessed that Ivy has not been sick like this before. Sinus infections are no fun, but there's something scary about your little one puking her guts up.

4) Next weekend we have two birthday parties for 3 of Ivy's dearest friends and I would have been SO sad to have missed them if she'd gotten this bug later.

5) No one had to miss work... now if we can just keep from getting sick ourselves....

Now, on to the fun times that happened this week.

Ivy's Tio Nan came to visit this weekend. Yes, she was sick more that half of the time he was here, but that's ok. It was still nice to see some family from far away!

Ivy tried eating a sandwich like a big girl. She takes bites that are a little bit too big, but it was fun to watch her try!

Ivy and her Papa have developed a favorite game. He chases her and she crawls as fast as she can to hide or find me. Of course, sometimes she only half tries to escape because if she gets caught he tickles her, and that is fun too. In this video, the tables were turned and Ivy sneaks up on her Papa.

A week in Red...

Ivy's Preschool learned about the color red this week, so she wore red to school everyday. Three mornings when I thought she looked particularly cute!

She hung out with her daddy on Thursday afternoon while I had colorguard practice. They played peek-a-boo (we call it pea-pie)...

and apparently her daddy taught her how to work her abs.

Then yesterday she discovered that if the toy box was empty, she could have some fun sitting in it....

and even more fun this morning when the toys were still in it!

She is crawling and/or cruising every where, and this afternoon she opened her bottom dresser drawer and tried to climb in! She is such a hoot!

10 months...

Can it really be that our baby girl has entered the pre-teen months? Just a year ago I was beginning to have early labor, and now she's here. I have learned so much about patience, confidence and love in such a relatively short time.

Ivy's adpoted a new favorite toy. Whenever she finds this swimmy diaper she carries it around for hours. It's not a lovey that she has to have to sleep, thankfully, but she does have a good time playing with it!

She also has a good time playing in the tub these days. She's constantly up and down scooping, dumping, floating, and pulling her toys in the water. Occasionally she adopts the shower head as a toy as well, and then I have to put it back on it's holder up high. If any one has any good tips on spout covers, we're in the market for one of those as well...

Inspired by the fun pictures of our friends Noah and Owen, and encouraged by the beautiful weather we were blessed with today, Ivy and I made our first venture to the park. She had a lot of fun, especially in the swings. Since I've not posted video in a while, I thought I'd put this one on.

She'll walk if you hold one hand, but she clearly needs no help climbing up a slide. I told her that I'd only allow this when the park's empty...it's a big no-no on the playground at school!

New things...

Ivy started her new school this week, and I think she likes it! The teacher says that out of 8 babies, 5 of them cry every morning but Ivy doesn't. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that my aunt takes her to school so it's not like her momma is leaving her...but let's just attribute it to Ivy's social nature and her thirst for knowledge! :)

Alex began a new year of life...Thursday was his birthday. Ivy gave him a wireless game controller. :) I made him a cheesecake...thanks to the Kraft Food & Family Magazine!

Here are a couple of cute pics of our girl...

Alex was a good example for Ivy this morning! He helped her brush her teeth...

Long Weekend Fun...

Happy Labor Day Weekend! We've just been hanging out together this weekend, enjoying our time together. Ivy and I have both had to adjust to time apart this week. She'll certainly be busy next week as she starts a half-day preschool program on Tuesday. I'm hoping they'll keep her engaged or she'll find a way to occupy herself...

I don't normally let her play in the bathroom, but I was drying my hair, and this is how she kept herself busy. :)

Apparently Ivy and I share a fondness for hanging out under the kitchen table. I remember playing house under the table while my mom cooked dinner. It's not hard for me to imagine her doing the same thing in a couple of years!

At Wal-Mart over the weekend, I found this super sweet Halloween costume for babies. The only one they had left fits Ivy now (not a chance that it'll fit in two months) so even though she won't be able to use it for Halloween I had to buy it, if for nothing more than some cute pics...
