8 months

Today is Ivy's eight month birthday. I cannot believe how quickly time has passed. We are so blessed to be chosen as her parents in this life.

On Saturday, Ivy was playing on the floor in the living room when she stopped, looked out the backdoor, and then made a beeline through the kitchen on her belly. I helped her up when she got there...I knew just who she was going to see!

Lunch and dinner out has once again become a time of merriment thanks to the Kiddapotamus Company! We LOVE this placemat which has suction cups to hold it down, and a tray to catch everything that misses Ivy's mouth! Ivy feeds herself Cheerios or bread cubes and raisins and we have an enjoyable meal...eating with both arms free! :)

Naps have become more of a challenge this week. On Monday, Ivy learned how to pull up in her crib. Now, if I lay her down and she's not quite ready to sleep, she'll stand up and "call" for me. She can't sit down by herself yet, so even if she gets sleepy, she's stuck until mommy or papa come to the rescue! Eventually she gives in to the sandman.

Injury #2

They are coming in rapid succession now. Ivy's second play related injury occurred yesterday. There were tears from us both. :(

Happy Fourth of July

Ivy had a wonderful Fourth of July sporting a very cute dress thanks to Susan and some patriotic sandals thanks to Nanny! We hung out with Madrina and shared the not-so-typical Independence Day meal of pinto beans and cornbread! :)

I've taken to calling Ivy "Miss Big Britches" because she is just growing up so fast! She's becoming ever more efficient with her "commando" crawl.

She's found her way to a sitting position from her belly several times today. (Thanks for the beautiful bracelet, Madrina.)

She's started pulling up everywhere! She's pulled up to her Leap Frog table, me, and the wagon where upon she toppled out and got her first play related injury...a small scratch beneath her eye. Thank goodness it wasn't worse!

I'd like to save the keys and credit cards for at least a few more years!

It's a curious thing...

Ivy's inquisitive mind has really shown itself lately. She's gotten into just about everything she can crawl to, and she's started pulling up in places other than the bath.

She has discovered the fun that books can bring...although she gets more pleasure from chewing than reading.

This morning before church I wanted to take a picture of Ivy because she looked so sweet. (I caught her in the middle of a fish face. I hope those top teeth come in soon!)

She, however, decided that attempting to stand in the rocker and examine the floor below would be more fun.

All in all, we've had a wonderful summer week. Alex's new job has allowed him to spend more time at home, and that means more snapshots of Ivy and her Papa!
