Standing strong!

The biggest event this week has been Ivy's standing. Everyday she manages to stand up for a little longer. She's not afraid of letting go, either, which you'll see at the end of the video. (Oops, the video is sideways and I don't know how to fix it. Oh well, you can tilt your head while you watch!) She has almost pulled up twice. Her crawling has come to a bit of a standstill, but she seems to be ready to build her balance for walking! She's growing so fast!!

Ivy and her daddy had some quality time together this week. They went swimming together on Wednesday and played around at the wedding rehearsal for Alex's friend on Friday.

Here's Alex and I after the wedding. Alex was a groomsman.

The other day, a friend asked me if Ivy looked more like Alex or myself. I replied that she is a good mix of us both. You can compare for yourself. Here is a picture of me in the bathtub at 7 months. Check the last post for Ivy's bathtub picture at 6 months.

Bathtime!

Ivy had her first solo bath tonight and she was just SO cute! Now if we can just get her to bathe in the duck tub without fussing!

And while I'm at it, she looked super sweet this morning!

6 months

This week began with Ivy's first "sick" visit to the doctor. After some antibiotics to treat sinusitis and bronchitis, she is feeling much better today! This visit to the doctor was just a day before her 6 month birthday, so I can report that she had doubled her birthweight by 6 months...exactly. She's gone from 8 lb 2 oz to 16 lb 4 oz! I can't believe how fast she's growing...she's even started reading for pleasure!

Since Ivy's started feeling better, we got to spend a little quality time with some amazing women (and a couple of amazing guys, too) including Ivy's godmother! What a wonderful way to spend the weekend!

A Happy Mother's Day Weekend!

Alex and Ivy spent the day together Saturday. He took her to have her 6 month pictures made at Olan Mills. She was SO cute that he had to snap a pic before they left home. Here's the preview...

This is my favorite time of the year...the season of passage from spring into summer. When Alex and I first bought our house, I planted some dianthius. They've come into full bloom, and Ivy seems to enjoy them as much as we do! (I'd put her closer, but she'd eat them!)

Ivy woke up at 5:45 this morning, she was so excited to see me on this beautiful Mother's Day! Actually, she wasn't feeling well. She's been a little fussy and running a fever all day. We don't know if it is because of the cold she has, or because she's trying to cut her upper teeth. Anyway, Alex took her for a moment this morning, and when she came back to me, she was holding a box...and trying to eat it. Inside I found a beautiful diamond band for my first Mother's Day gift. Although it is more than I ever expected, it is the perfect keepsake. Then when Ivy and I came into the kitchen, I found a lovely bouquet of flowers and a card. I am so blessed to have such a thoughtful husband!

Our Little Fish!

We had Ivy's first swimming lesson today, and she was a natural! Check out the video! I've also posted a picture of my friend Leah and I. We met in this very pool when the babies were in our tummies, and now, here we are...and here they are too! I am so thankful for all my good friends....you are angels in disguise!

Also, when I picked Ivy up from daycare today, she had a surprise for me! I got my first Mother's Day card! (I got it a little early because this was her last day at daycare!) It was so sweet, I had to show it off!

An Eventful Week!

Our week began with Ivy getting her first haircut on Tuesday. Alex did a great job keeping her entertained while we waited (check out the video), and Debby did a great job at hitting a moving target as Ivy was interested in everything going on around her and rarely sat still...of course that's to be expected!

On Wednesday I picked Ivy up at daycare and she had a crusty nose. Oh, no. Her first cold. She's been waking up in the middle of the night because she can't breathe. Our poor girl! Still, she seems to be in a good mood. Thursday, as if on cue, Aunt Shirley called and offered to keep Ivy for the remainder of the school year, so woo-hoo! No more daycare! Also on Thursday, Ivy really began to make friends with Max and Bo. She's been interested in them for quite some time, but now they really hold her attention! She squeals and chats like she's giving them some really important news. It's so cute!

And believe it or not, this morning Alex noticed that Ivy's second tooth has come in! It's also a bottom tooth, right beside the first one...which is growing more prominent everyday. She was a bundle of joy in the beginning, and it just gets better every day!
