She's growing!

One little tooth has made it's way through the gums this week. Ivy is apparently a champion teether! I know I have blessings to count, and I consider the fact that we didn't even really know a tooth was coming in to be one of them!

I've survived week one at daycare, and I'm really grateful to my prinicpal who has given me permission to run check on her if I have time during planning. It helps my anxiety to be able to see her during the day and know that she's ok.

She's starting to push herself up onto her knees, so I think crawling will be the next accomplishment. I doubt walking will be far behind. This week she's learned to navigate her walker to reach someone who's calling her. I've got a little video, and I'll hopefully learn how to put it on when I talk to my dear friend Randi.

Below is a pic of Ivy in her chicken outfit. She's daddy's pollita!

The Big Day

Today was Ivy's first day of "school." I'm not sure for whom it was more difficult. I was crying when I left her, she was crying when I picked her up (just sleepy). They are moving her to the toddler side tomorrow because she is "just too active for the baby side." That's my girl!

The Real Life

Bye, bye Nanny and Pa!

Nanny and David left today, so that begins our foray into the "real life" where Ivy goes to day care and Alex and Kristi take care of everything that all other parents manage...without any help! We have certainly been spoiled to have had grandparents who love and care for our girl with us since January! I'm so glad that Ivy's grandparents, though they are far away, have had an opportunity to get to know the little personality that is blooming in Ivy!

5 months

Ivy celebrated her 5 month birthday today!

We are so glad that Nanny and Pa have arrived to spend the week with us. Hooray for Texas Love!

Ivy also started feeding herself her bottle this week. She's been keen to hold it for a minute or two for several months now, but as of Thursday, she'll hold her bottle until it's empty! This is both a happy and sad thing for her Momma. While I am so proud of her independence (and it is nice to be able to plop her on the couch and get things done while she's eating), I also know that this is just one more milestone that separates her from from being a tiny baby, and that's kind of sad!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you! We've spent this weekend enjoying each others' company as we adjust to life as a little family (minus the grandparents). We're so grateful to have an extra special Easter blessing in the little girl that has warmed our hearts throughout the winter...now we're ready for spring! Alex and I bought a DVD videocamera this weekend, so we've spent more time capturing moments on video rather than in still photos, even so, we managed to take another picture of Ivy enjoying her feet!

Our First Post: Some happenings!

Ivy has recently discovered her feet, and they are obviously tasty!

On Monday, Tita Laura and Tito Manuel left us. Ivy spent the day with Papa after taking them to the airport. She and her daddy played and had a wonderful time!

Ivy has also enjoyed learning to eat carrots and sweet potatoes. Sometimes they're so good she has to lick the plate (or high chair tray) clean!
