Springtime Fun!

OK, I apologize for another marathon post. I was feeling myself by Friday, but I decided just to wait another couple of days and do the whole downloading, uploading, posting thing just once!

Saturday before Easter found us hunting eggs with our friends... We could not have asked for a more beautiful day for egg hunting. Ivy seemed to understand the objective, but once she discovered that there was a treat in the egg, she made it very clear that she was in it for the rewards more than the challenge!

As I think I mentioned in a previous post, this girl is an outside girl through and through. She loves being in the sunshine, doesn't mind being in the rain, loves the mulch, loves the worm she found in the dirt, loves the "fowrs" and everything else about "side". So, now Ivy has a sandbox to love, too! She has such a good time digging and tearing down my castles.... one day we even had snack on the picnic table!

Being outside on was a good way to pass the afternoons. We drew on the driveway with sidewalk chalk....and Ivy tired out bathtime as a bird...
Papa bought a wheelbarrow and took Ivy for a ride!
Ivy's growing so fast! She fed herself almost all of her cereal Thursday morning! I was SO proud!

And she's learning how to drink from a cup (not just in the bathtub, but it's still the safest place)!

Her hair has certainly grown too! Here is a picture of the length...

Now if we could just get her sides to even out! Still, I attempted a twist to keep her hair out of the bathwater....

16 Months Brings a World of Discovery

Ivy is learning so much these days! Her vocabulary seems to increase everyday, and she must understand both languages, because when Alex tells her something or asks her to do something in Spanish, she does. She's quite remarkable (but then I may be a little biased)!
Thanks to the wonderful weather we've had, we've spent a lot of time outside lately. Ivy's been keen to discover the wonders of the grass, flowers, and shrubs. She fusses when we have to come in, points to the door and says, "Side" in her most pleading voice.

A future botanist?

Landscaper?

Florist (or flower child...she loves putting the flowers in her hair)?

She's also discovered "in" and "out"...

On a particularly windy day she waved at the neighbors going down the street...

and then enjoyed a good book...
Saturday our neighbors came over for a few minutes. Ivy and their little girl played ball; Samantha is nearly 3 so her version of ball was a little different than Ivy's! They were both quite tolerant, though, as they tried to figure out how to play together.

Ivy has really enjoyed the "Vroom, Vroom" which would be car. (She's said the word a time or two, but mostly we get the sound.). She loves to "toce el pitu" (beep the horn).

This year she can climb in -and out- on her own. Thanks again, Ms. Sarah!

We're trying to teach Ivy to blow bye kisses, and it looks like we've nearly succeeded...

Nanny's Visit

Ok, so life never did quite settle down while Nanny and Pa were here, so here are the pictures of their visit!

Nanny and Ivy had lots of fun in Ivy's tent...and yes, that my 71 year old mom on the floor with he little pumpkin'!

On Saturday morning, Nanny and Ivy met in the living room in their PJ's... their "footed" jammies! Ivy seemed to notice the similarities!

Ivy fell head over heels for her Nanny and Pa. The morning they left, she threw a fit in Aunt Shirley's driveway before we even got inside that morning...and she's NEVER cried about seeing Aunt Shirley and Jack! She LOVES them, but she wanted her Nanny and Pa! It was amazing to see the bond that can be there, even when a little one is so far from her grandparents.

Surprise!

My mom and step-dad surprised us all when they showed up in NC on Thursday evening. We've had a great weekend with them, and I'll post pictures when life settles down a little bit mid-week.

Springtime Crazies...

We've had an absolutely beautiful weekend. Ivy took the opportunity to try out her new shades.

We also met up with our mommy, daddy, and baby friends (although they're fast leaving the baby stage) for dinner Saturday night. The kids had lots of fun, and so did the adults.

The evenings still get cool, so Ivy has taken to occupying herself in a variety of ways. She does the laundry. Well, she gets things from her dresser and drags them all over the house which makes more laundry for momma...

And she unstocks the kitchen cabinets...

Second verse, same as the first... :)
